Surgical Gastroenterology

The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at SUT Pattom provides surgical treatment for a variety of gastrointestinal disorders ranging from appendicitis to complex liver tumors. The key areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery for disorders of colon (large intestine), especially laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer, surgical management of gallbladder stones (lapasoscopic cholecystectomy), laparoscopic appendicectomy and surgical therapy for pancreatobiliary tumours and benign diseases. The department also provides 24X7 emergency services including management of abdominal trauma and all GI emergencies. The department functions are augmented by the collaboration with supporting departments like Medical Gastoenterology, Interventional GI radiology, Critical care and Anaesthesiology to provide optimum and minimally invasive patient care.
